The most famous cabaret in Paris, the Moulin Rouge is renowned as the birthplace of the can-can dance. The 800 seat hall was rebuilt in 1915 after being destroyed by fire and its turn of the century elegance is still largely intact. Established in 1889 the music hall was created as a temple of music and dance where wealthy men could spend a decadent night on the outskirts of Paris. The caberet's notoriety grew over the decades and by the post-war years the most famous
French and international perfomers had played there. Today the show features over 100 men and women performing in various states of undress while clad in sequins, feathers and rhinestones.
